The Copy-Paste Trap
Every certification body has experienced it. A planner opens last month's FR.220 quotation to create one for a new client. They update the client name. They update the scope. They update the audit dates. But they miss the template header, which still references the previous quarter's revision number. Or they leave in the old client's NACE code. Or they paste the wrong auditor's name from an adjacent cell.

Why Templates Do Not Solve the Problem
Many CBs attempt to solve version drift by maintaining a master template library. A clean template for each form is stored in a controlled location. When someone needs a document, they copy the template rather than a previous document.
This helps with template headers and revision numbers, but it does not help with data population. The clean template has blank fields. The planner still has to enter the client name, scope, audit dates, team composition, EA codes, man-day calculations, and every other data point manually. Every manual entry is a transcription opportunity, and every transcription opportunity is an error opportunity.

Using the CB's Own Templates
